Avneet Kalsi studied for a Master’s of Osteopathy degree at the University College of Osteopathy, where she graduated in 2019.
Avneet is a registered D.O. and is practising as a Doctor of Osteomyology in the clinic.
She believes in these four principles that form the basis of osteopathic philosophy:
1) The body is a unit and health encompasses mind, body and spirit. The whole body is greater than the sum of it’s parts, with each part affecting every other part of the body.
2) Structure and function are reciprocally interrelated. The body is an integration of a person’s structure (anatomy) and function (physiology). If the structure of the body is compromised, (through overuse injuries or a chronic problem), the function will be adversely affected in terms of pain, stiffness, instability etc.
3) The body is it’s own medicine chest. The body is usually able to resolve nearly all but the most serious conditions by removing restrictive barriers and enabling their own healing mechanisms to be stimulated and supported.
4) The rule of the artery is supreme. In order for healing to occur, there needs to be sufficient blood supply to the area of dysfunction. This ensures that the necessary nutrients and immune support are provided.
In her free time, Avneet enjoys staying active, reading, watching movies, baking and travelling with her family and friends!
